Some Key Questions

Licensing fees are based on a combination of factors, not a simple fixed cost per module. Some modules may contain interactive VR, whereas others a more simple image or video edit.

From the get go, we are able to provide the content modules to near any request. We are working towards being able to provide a complete package by which both content and system modules can be provided. The cost of this would be proportionately more.

The cost of a whole display, would be quoted, rather than delivered as a fixed price per module.

We are basing our displays on modules, the idea being that any custom build - needs building blocks. These building blocks allow for complete customisation be it the style of content material shown, or the layout of the story and exhibit itself.

A module simply refers to a single unit.  A single unit of story material - a content module.  The technology used to tell that story, be it projector, display or VR headset - is the system module.

The number of content modules we are able to provide is as large as our archive. At last count, over 200,000 images, and 340 hours of video material - and ever growing.  We are sharing everything so as to further our collective story telling ability.

System modules would be limited to the budget of the venue.

The refresh-ability of a display, is again, at the discretion of the venue. We are working towards programmes based on 6 month or 12 month cycles.

Should a venue wish to refresh a display daily - we are able to facilitate. The pricing would proportionally increase.

We are working towards a package system, by which both the content and system modules can be provided for a venue. In our early trials, launches and collaborations we are solely providing content modules.

System modules must be provided by the venue. Our team is able to guide displays to ensure that the modular display system is cohesive and functional as an exhibit and display programme.

Whilst The Open Ocean Group, and the Modular Display project within that is based in the UK, we are able to provide content to anyone, anywhere.

For in person meetings,  venue visits and physical installations, further discussions would need to take place.

We are constantly growing our list of contributors, and the archive of which our projects are based upon.  We believe we are building a truly worthwhile system by which contributors maintain copyright, generate revenue and have their content shared to the world.

We are aiming to hard launch our modular display programme in the new year and increase the number of venues we support and collaborate with.

Whilst there will always be a limit to the scope our archive can cover, we are confident that we cover a significant portion of the worlds marine life.

We have a particular strength in Coral Reef and Indo-Pacific content, with high quality contribution for British marine and freshwater wildlife.
